Family law attorneys Emily J. Perkins and Olivia G. Schear with Lorch Naville Ward LLC have completed their Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) training.
Professionals who earn this designation are court-appointed individuals, usually attorneys, who represent a child’s interests in legal matters, particularly in child custody and visitation cases. The GAL conducts investigations, interviews relevant parties, and submits reports with recommendations to the court, which usually gives significant weight to their findings.
Perkins, a junior partner in the firm, also has completed her mediation training and joins Linda B. Lorch, who is already a family law mediator.
“Their additional credentials enhance our firm’s commitment to providing compassionate, comprehensive and effective legal support to our clients,” said Sherry Cortie, office/accounting manager.
Claire Lorch Hagedorn is continuing to focus her practice on adoptions and other family law matters at the firm at 506 State Street.
Lorch Naville Ward’s roots date back to its founding in New Albany in 1928. In addition to family law and adoptions, its 13 attorneys offer services in estate planning, probate, veteran’s benefits, real estate, long-term care planning, civil appeals, criminal law, alternative dispute resolution, bankruptcy, probate administration and guardianship matters.
